When was the last time you listened to your body.........and your instincts. Today with the scores of tests and scans we have lost touch with our ability to monitor our health.
Dr.Sam Mathew a good friend and a great doctor always listens to his patient's analysis of the problem before he reaches for a pad of tests. In fact he hardly ever orders tests. To quote him "They say that an old patient is a better doctor."
Often we seem to take our body for granted and never listen to pains, stiffness, discomfort and so many other messages it sends us. We are happy to treat the symptoms with medicine. When we are young the body is strong and we ignore it and push it to its limits. When we approach middle age we give the messages some attention but still expect the body to cope on its own. When we get old we are only listening to the body but it is too late and we can do little to help ourselves.I do believe that the mind has the capacity to help cure or control so many of our everyday illnesses. The Mind Body connection is very real and strong.I have come to the point that I take the time to see what is the reason of any problem I feel in my body. Often I am able to pin point the activity that is causing it and make changes.
So I now give a lot of respect to my body's ability to tell me what is wrong .....I have realized that without a healthy body and mind we cannot achieve or progress in our life. We lose our freedom and become dependent on others. In fact, I will go so far as to say that once the body and mind fails and freedom to progress is lost, our soul is a prisoner in the body waiting to move on. This statement is not accepted by many around me but I feel strongly about it. So take your health seriously ....... this is the only body we will get till the next lifetime ......enjoy it and respect it.
